Co-Production Event

A school co-production event with Nottingham-based families of neurodivergent children took place earlier this month.

The Lilya Lighthouse Education Trust is committed to working with neurodivergent children and young people, their families, and allies to co-create a better offer of school education. The vision for the trust is to create neurodiverse-inclusive schools and workplaces.

Attendees of the event were invited to shape this vision by contributing their experiences of inclusive practice in schools. Barriers to inclusive education were also identified, and then re-framed as challenges to which the group were able to suggest practical solutions.

Lilya’s Mum, Member and Co-Founder of The Lilya Lighthouse Education Trust said, “Whilst it was so sad to hear stories from parents about poor experiences their children had had in school, it was heart-warming to have so many parents show up, with a desire to co-produce something better and with plenty of great and deliverable ideas for how we could do that.”
